The Bryan ISD Education Foundation’s PAWS Program is making a meaningful impact across the district by bringing comfort, connection, and support to students and staff. During the 2025-2026 school year, Bryan ISD welcomed comfort dogs to six elementary and high school campuses as part of an ongoing mission to support emotional and social well-being.
June, the Foundation’s first service pup, began the PAWS journey at Kemp-Carver Elementary. Since arriving on campus, June has become a beloved member of the school family, helping create a calming and positive environment for students. She has also supported students with mobility challenges through her presence and companionship.
The PAWS family continued to grow with the addition of Rhys at Ross Elementary, Mochi at Neal Elementary, Pearl at Branch Elementary, and Georgia at Johnson Elementary. Each comfort dog has brought a unique sense of joy, encouragement, and connection to their campus communities. Students and staff have embraced these furry friends as valued members of their school families.
At Bryan High School, Thor, a gentle Golden Retriever with a big heart, is helping students navigate their school day with greater comfort and confidence. His calming presence provides support for students facing emotional challenges while contributing to a more peaceful campus atmosphere.
This spring, the PAWS Program expanded its reach into the community by hosting its first PAWS in the Park event. The event gave Bryan ISD families and community members the opportunity to meet the comfort dogs, learn about the program’s mission, and see firsthand the difference these special pups are making.
PAWS Partners and program sponsors joined local canine-focused businesses to celebrate the initiative. Bryan ISD student groups helped make the day memorable by providing face painting, photo opportunities, and grilling lunch for attendees.
The event was a tremendous success, and the Foundation looks forward to continuing this community celebration in the years ahead. Through the PAWS Program, Bryan ISD is creating a culture of compassion, connection, and support—one paw print at a time.
