The Bryan ISD Education Foundation has launched the P.A.W.S. Program – Pups Assisting Wellness & Support — to bring trained service dogs (comfort dogs) into school campuses to support the emotional and social well-being of students and staff.
Bryan ISD Education Foundation is proud to announce that it will be the first in Texas to implement a district-wide comfort dog program. The program officially rolled out this school year at Neal Elementary, and Kemp-Carver Elementary, and Ross Elementary and will expand to additional campuses in the coming years. Welcome to Bryan ISD- June, Mochi, and Rhys!
Each P.A.W.S. campus is home to a full-time, professionally trained comfort dog, specially selected and prepared to thrive in a school environment. These dogs are not just visitors—they’re part of the school family, helping to reduce anxiety, de-escalate stress, and foster emotional connection among students and educators alike.
The Bryan ISD Education Foundation partnered with Interquest C.A.R.E.S., a Texas-based organization that trains and places service animals in schools, to develop a sustainable model for dog placement and support.
The goals of the program include:
The ongoing care and wellness of the dogs is a top priority, and it wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of Summit Veterinary Clinic, Pet Supplies Plus, Bluebonnet Pet Ranch, And Sew On, and Fabulous Fur who have stepped up to provide services and resources to keep the dogs healthy and happy. These businesses have committed not just financial resources, but also compassion and community spirit, helping ensure the dogs are well cared for and the program remains sustainable for years to come.
